Summer Program 2002
Summer Tour of the University of Minnesota's

Particle Science and Engineering Facility

The University of Minnesota has world class facilities dedicated to research in particle and interfacial science. On Thursday, August 15, the Particle Society presents a tour designed to educate industrial members of the Society about these state-of-the-art facilities right in our own back yard, and how our representative companies can access these outstanding laboratories, faculty, and students to enhance our businesses. The tour, which will run from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, will include the following laboratories:

Particle Technology Laboratory
Dept. Mechanical Engineering

High Temperature and Plasma Laboratory
Dept. Mechanical Engineering

Characterization Facility
Institute of Technology

Tissue Microfabrication Laboratory
Dept. Biomedical Engineering

Tour participants will also be introduced to the UMN Industrial Partnership for Research in Interfacial and Materials Engineering (IPRIME) and the NSF/UMN Center for Nanoparticle Science and Engineering.

Who should attend?
Society members working in new and exciting areas of particle science, colloidal systems, aerosols, biomaterials, particle funtionalization and manipulation, particle measurement and characterization, and related areas.
